Hi there! I am Leah.

For a long time, I lived in a place of utter despair. Life was tough, and I always said, “One day, I will be happy. One day, I will do more for my children and me, allowing me to grow and create deep, meaningful relationships within my family.” I told myself I couldn’t take the time for me because each external show of success was more important. I blamed my problems on schedules, or finances, or even my mental health and past traumas. I had every intention of living in a state of joy someday. I drank too much and traveled too little. I worked myself to the point of breakdown and had little meaningful time with my kids. I was sad…like, deeply sad. Something needed to change.

At the start of 2023, my family spent our first three weeks in Thailand. We explored, adventured, navigated, and occasionally annoyed one other on an epic trip that forever changed each of us in our souls for the better. This was the fourth year we had gone on an epic family adventure. Every day, I feel deep gratitude for the life I have chosen for myself. I chose to put myself first, take care of past trauma, and tend to my needs to be a better mom, wife, and member of this planet.

This gratitude is only possible because I changed it all four years ago. I stopped toxic career cycles. I stopped toxic additions to success signaling (and alcohol), forgave people, and forgave myself, launching me on a journey that has led to more joy and contentment than I ever knew possible.

The most important thing for me was getting my priorities straight: 1) me, kids, and my husband, 2) meaningful experiences (both in the backyard and worlds away), and 3) everything else after that. I am here to help you do the same. Through my coaching efforts, I want to empower you to build the life you desire, travel to your heart’s content, and build the experiences you want for your family, whether in your backyard or on the other side of the world. I want to help you learn the tools to put yourself first.

My career has been in campaign politics, and when I took those lessons and flipped them on their head to build a self-advocacy campaign for me, my life changed.

Take control

of your joy.

Putting yourself in place to be your best self takes time and energy. It is not something that happens overnight, and many times seeds are planted over the years, and we grow to find a place where we can be our best selves, our happiest selves. Once I stopped advocating for everything else first and took a moment to prioritize my life, I found myself on a stronger foundation to advocate for others. I had spent a career building and being part of campaigns for others and other causes; now, it was time to build a campaign for me. A self-advocacy campaign would lead me out of the darkness to find the fantastic joy that would allow me to live life to the fullest.

Course Outline:

Week 1:
Research: A good self-advocacy campaign starts with knowing the whole picture.

What is holding me back? This week is about digging deep into the why to understand your behavior better to tackle each barrier that keeps you from happiness and contentment. Understanding where your negative narratives and beliefs about yourself stem from is essential to be proactive about changing things moving forward. It’s time to focus on the why, not the what!

Week 2:
Message: A winning campaign has a great message and stays on the message.

What will convince you that you are worth fighting for and that you can control the message in your head as the campaign manager of your life? We will rework the narrative to empower positive messages in your mind and push out the negative ones.

Week 3:
Priorities: Every campaign has a priority, a focus, a candidate, or an issue.

What are your priorities, and how do you prioritize them first?

Week 4:
Filling your Bank: Nothing can run on empty. What fills you up?

In self-advocacy, you need a reserve that will keep you going when that negative messaging inevitably reappears in your head. What things truly make you happy that you look forward to and savor? And how do you make sure more of those things are happening in life?

Week 5:
Building your advocacy network

Who are your people, and how are you empowering them to be advocates for you?

Week 6:
Redefining Success: Becoming the Campaign Manager of Your Own Life

Overcome the objects in your mind as to what success looks like. A joyful state first, external success second. When we redefine what success looks like, it allows a freedom to chase joy.
